Method

  1. Step 1Cook the rice

    Prepare white rice according to package directions and keep warm.

    Bring a pot of water to boil. Carefully add eggs and cook for 6-7 minutes for jammy yolks.

    Note

    For perfectly jammy eggs, use room temperature eggs and start timing once the water returns to a boil.

  3. Step 3Cool and peel eggs

    Transfer eggs to an ice bath immediately. Once cooled, peel carefully.

  4. Step 4Make the marinade

    Mix soy sauce, water, sugar, chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and chili flakes in a bowl.

    Note

    Adjust sugar and chili flakes to your taste preference.

  5. Step 5Marinate the eggs15 min

    Cut peeled eggs in half and place them in the marinade. Let sit for at least 15 minutes, spooning marinade over occasionally.

    Note

    For deeper flavor, marinate for several hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
