Mexican-style steak with cumin, garlic, and salsa

Method

  1. Step 1Toast the spices30s

    Toast cumin and peppercorns for about 30 seconds to boost flavor. Be careful not to go over 30 seconds or they could burn.

    Add in 2 garlic cloves and make a paste with the toasted spices.

    Marinate the thinly sliced top sirloin steak using the paste. Cover and let it sit in the fridge for at least one hour.

  4. Step 4Sear the steak3 min

    Add avocado oil to the pan. Cook the steak on each side for about 2-3 minutes. If not fully cooked, that's okay—it will finish cooking later. Work in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet.

    Note

    Don't overcrowd the skillet—cook in batches for best sear.

  5. Step 5Season the steak

    Season the seared steak with salt.

    In the same pan, make the salsa. Once ready, add the steak back in and let everything cook together for about 2 minutes.
